Weight Loss
Weight loss is one of the leading reasons clients seek nutrition counseling. Molly has advanced credentialing in weight management and has a long track record of success working with clients to drop unwanted pounds. Molly uses an evidence-based, food-first, practical approach to weight loss and works with weight loss clients privately or in groups.
Small group weight loss consists of 6-12 participants in a 12-week on-site program. This program focuses on turning good intentions into actions and learning the science of nutrition to support lifelong weight management success. The small group will explore emotional eating, portion control, meal planning, physical activity and much more. Small group weight loss participants are twice as likely to be successful as individuals seeking weight loss in private counseling- Why? Because a like-minded, supportive team adds to the experience and reinforces commitment. Small group is a great way to get both the nutrition expertise and support that you need.
Pediatric Nutrition
Good nutrition is essential for growth and development and plays a major role in mood and behavior. It is normal for children to have stages of picky eating but if mealtime is a struggle, entire groups of foods are off-limits with your child, you see delays in growth, or behavior is out of control, nutrition evaluation and diet changes can help.
Good nutrition can help the child who is falling off the growth chart and the child who is climbing the walls. But something doesn’t have to be “wrong” to seek expert nutrition advice. Childhood is a period of rapid growth and evolving nutritional needs. The foods your child is eating now and the family habits surrounding food, will determine much of a child’s adult health. Optimizing nutrition and creating healthy food habits early in life is an investment in future health. Being a parent is HARD–let a registered dietitian help you take the mystery out of what and when to feed your child.
Chronic Health Nutrition
Nutrition can help manage and potentially alleviate symptoms of many chronic health conditions. It is all too common to put nutrition on the back burner while focusing on career goals, raising a family, or all the other demands of life. You are a little less active, you carry a few extra pounds but everything seems fine until a shocking moment comes and you are diagnosed with a chronic health condition like Diabetes or High Blood Pressure, etc. Many people seek nutrition counseling after a moment like this and a registered dietitian at Tidewater Nutrition is here to help. Many clients are able to avoid medications and even reverse this scenario within 3 to 6 months. If you’ve been dealing with a condition like this for a while and are tired of meds or immobility, nutrition counseling can help. Even better, most insurance plans have coverage for nutrition counseling in these scenarios!
Disordered Eating
You may be familiar with terms like anorexia and bulimia- these are extreme examples of disordered eating. Many Americans face less intense, but equally difficult challenges to adequate nutrition which are broadly termed disordered eating- emotional eating, stress eating, binge eating, food avoidance or obsession can all be helped through individual, supportive counseling.
If you feel like any of these descriptions resonate with you- you are not alone. Nutrition counseling at Tidewater Nutrition can help you regain control of your eating and improve your mental health and quality of life.
Sports Nutrition
At Tidewater Nutrition, athletes of all ages are a favorite. Improved nutrition improves athletic performance, speeds recovery and increases your longevity in sport. Understanding the relationship between nutrition and performance is as important as the sport skills themselves- maybe even more important as nutrition enhances performance and also helps prevent injury. As always, Tidewater Nutrition uses a practical, food-first approach. We do not sell supplements or performance enhancing agents. Private counseling sessions consist of diet evaluation, sport performance review, and personalized nutrition recommendations.
Tidewater Nutrition also offers team nutrition training and sport specific education for club sports teams and high school athletes. Find more information about group programs under the consulting tab.
Nutritional status of patients with cancer can be affected by many things, including their baseline nutritional status, tumor site, and treatment regimen. Cancer itself and cancer treatments can lead to weight loss, changes in taste, loss of appetite and sometimes changes in a person’s ability to eat.
Maryland Oncology Hematology believes Registered Dietitians provide an essential service that is a needed piece of a patient’s treatment plan. Working with a Registered Dietician with knowledge and experience with cancer patients can improve nutritional status, reduce treatment toxicities, and improve cancer treatment outcomes.
